Compare and contrast the Chinese and the Irish immigrants of the late 1880s and decide if the groups are more alike or more different. Argue your evaluation!
The Chinese and Irish immigrants were more different than similar since their stories were as if they were two sides of the same coin. Irish immigrants came to America mostly because of the Irish Potato Famine. Irish used potatoes as their main dish so this was a serious problem for them. They had to assimilate with American culture after moving there for food unfortunately; they weren't treated unequally because of their homeland. However, the Chinese were treated unequal because of their ethnicity. Many nativists in America strongly disliked the Chinese. The Chinese worked hard and they were treated unfairly still. It was rough for them but they eventually fit in. Both Chinese and Irish moved to America for a better living but the welcome treatment they received was different. Therefore, there were more differences between immigrants of China and Ireland.

You had some vague ideas from the documents, but I would like for you to be more clear about the specific details - what kinds of jobs are you talking about? Where did you find this information? What documents were used? You can get more points by being more specific and extending your ideas and sophisticating your language.
